Championship preview: QPR vs. Millwall

MILLWALL boss Neil Harris has to decide who will replace Aiden O’Brien for the London derby with QPR on Tuesday night.

O’Brien is suspended for one game after his red card in the 1-0 defeat to Wolves on Saturday.

Shane Ferguson and Fred Onyedinma are the likely contenders to start on the left side of midfield.

Harris could also be without striker Tom Elliott after he missed the trip to Molineux with an ankle problem.

Despite picking up just five points from their first six games, Millwall have put in some encouraging performances and Harris wants the players to take the positives from their loss at the weekend, when the Lions defended well for long periods and almost snatched a point late on through Shaun Williams.

“Even though we limited Wolves to long-range shooting opportunities for certainly the first 60 or 70- minutes we didn’t quite get in their faces,” Harris said.

"We started the second half on the front foot, a lot more positive and aggressive in our play. We had a foothold and were getting stronger and stronger and were building momentum.

"Then the red card changes the complexion of the game. At this level when you’re under the cosh you’ve got to stay in the game and keep it tight because every point is vital.

"We did stay in the game and rode our luck a little bit towards the end pushing two and then three up top with only 10 men. We got our chance right at the end and it was a really good save from John Ruddy from Willo’s shot.

"It wasn’t to be but we take the positives from it into Tuesday night."

QPR have problems in defence. James Perch and Grant Hall are injured, and former Hoops defender Clint Hill, 38, is currently training with the club and could be offered a deal.

Millwall’s last win at Loftus Road was in February 1989 after goals from Jimmy Carter and Tony Cascarino.
