Championship preview: Millwall vs. Ipswich Town

JAKE Cooper is back in contention for Millwall’s Championship clash with Ipswich Town on Tuesday.

Cooper picked up an ankle injury last week against Stevenage and was on the bench for the 1-1 draw against Bolton on Saturday.

Aiden O’Brien is set to miss out as scans last week revealed he suffered a hamstring tear against Nottingham Forest on the opening day of the season.

Harris has to decide whether to continue with Byron Webster partnering Shaun Hutchinson in the centre of defence, or recall Cooper.

“He wasn’t in contention to start on Saturday, but we were able to put Byron Webster into the team, which is a lovely position to be in,” Harris said. “I didn’t need to take the risk with Jake, however well he played at Forest.

“Not having to bring him on during the game was a real bonus. He’s back in full training and in contention for Tuesday evening.

“Aiden has a hamstring issue, he did it in the Forest game. It tightened up and we didn’t scan him until the end of last week, but there is a slight tear there.

“It’s one that we have to monitor every day. He’s back moving and we have to decide when to involve him this week.”

Ryan Tunnicliffe played 71 minutes for the under-23s in their 4-0 win over Huddersfield on Monday, but isn't likely to be involved until the EFL Cup second round against Reading next Tuesday.

Ipswich have won their opening three games of the season. Former Millwall manager Mick McCarthy could be without defenders Tommy Smith and Adam Webster for the trip to The Den.

Flynn Downes had to go off in the 2-1 win at Barnsley on Saturday, while attacker Freddie Sears also picked up a knock.

McCarthy will have Grant Ward available again after injury.
