Woking take a look at Millwall striker

MILLWALL centre-forward Jamie Philpot featured for Woking in their 1-1 friendly draw with Watford’s development side on Saturday.

Alex Jakubiak opened the scoring for Watford in the first half, before Bobson Bawling equalised for the National League side.

Philpot came on after the break and went close to scoring for Woking, who finished in 18th place in the fifth tier last season.

Philpot, 20, scored on his Millwall debut against Wolves in 2015 but has played just 11 times for the senior side since then and spent time on loan at Bromley last season.

Neil Harris signed Tom Elliott in June, and with Fred Onyedinma’s new deal set to be confirmed on Monday Philpot is down the pecking order.

Onyedinma started up front with Steve Morison in Millwall’s 1-1 draw at Dartford on Saturday. Aiden O’Brien can also play as a striker, while Harry Smith was part of the squad at Princes Park, though he may be keen to leave on loan for senior first-team experience.

Philpot signed a new two-year deal with Millwall in May 2016. He will be 21 in October and recognises his opportunities with the Lions are likely to be limited in the Championship.

Woking are taking a look at Philpot and could sign him on loan ahead of the 2017-18 season.
