Millwall confirm fifth permanent summer signing

MILLWALL have completed the signing of Northern Ireland international defender Conor McLaughlin.

McLaughlin, 26 later this month, passed a medical on Wednesday morning and has signed a two-year deal.

He becomes Lions boss Neil Harris' fifth addition to the squad this summer, following James Meredith, Tom Elliott, George Saville and Jed Wallace to the club.

McLaughlin was available on a free transfer after his contract with Fleetwood expired on June 30.

And he revealed he sounded out international team-mate Shane Ferguson before joining the Lions.

"I sent Fergie a few texts and asked him what the club was like while we were away on international duty," McLaughlin told Millwall's official website. "He didn't need to sell the club to me, but he said nothing but good things."

"I'm delighted to get everything signed.

"I first heard of Millwall's interest towards the back end of last season, but I then went away on holiday and got married, so it took a bit of time. But I'm glad it's all sorted now.

"I'm really looking forward to getting going. I just want to start and get to know my team-mates."
