Millwall target wants move to Championship

MILLWALL target Ryan Leonard wants to leave Southend, according to his representative.

Leonard, 25, is also interesting Sheffield United, and both clubs have had bids for the midfielder turned down.

But Leonard is determined to test himself at Championship level after six years with the Shrimpers.

His agent told Southend Echo: "Ryan has not submitted a transfer request at this stage but he would certainly like to play at a higher level and move on from Southend.

"He would welcome the chance to step up to the Championship and the club are being offered good money, so it would seem to make good financial sense too."

Millwall's bid for Leonard – who was Southend's player of the year for the last two seasons – was £300,000.
