The View From The Opposition: Fleetwood Town

MILLWALL have picked up 10 points from the last 12 available after wins over Scunthorpe, Shrewsbury and Justin Edinburgh's Northampton on Friday.

Against the Cobblers, Jed Wallace scored his second and third goals since returning to The Den on loan from Wolves. That meant he beat last season's tally for the Lions and Wallace will be after more goals before the end of the season.

If Millwall can win all three of their remaining fixtures, then a play-off place is guaranteed.

Fleetwood were given hope on Saturday of automatic promotion after 10-man Oldham took all three points in a game against second-placed Bolton.

Uwe Rosler's side are currently four points behind Bolton, and will hope that Bury do them a favour at the Macron Stadium on Tuesday.

The Lions will have to watch out for David Ball, who will be hoping to add to his 13 league goals and six assists this season.

Lucas Ball spoke to Fleetwood fan Ben Knapman ahead of Monday's crucial tie.

Why do you support Fleetwood?

I first went to a Fleetwood game in 2009 and thoroughly enjoyed it so have been hooked ever since.

I've never really looked back, and started going to most of the away games in 2015. I love the club and the brilliant family environment surrounding it.

How do you think your team would fare in the play-offs having not been there (in League One) last season?

It entirely depends on who we are drawn against in the semi-finals.

We have hit a rough patch of form recently, winning just two out of six since that 4-2 defeat against Bolton. We really haven't been at it as much since then.

Over two legs however we could probably beat any of the sides as we have been quite consistent for the vast majority of this season.

Millwall won the reverse fixture 2-1 and Fleetwood were just a point above the Lions at the time, what's happened since then?

Fleetwood went on an 18-match unbeaten run during which we beat Sheffield United 2-0, Bradford 2-1, MK Dons 1-0 and Scunthorpe 2-0. They were the big ones that helped propel us up the table.

If my memory serves me correctly, Millwall had a bit of a rough patch directly after that game, but then had that huge (17 games) unbeaten run, though there were a lot of draws.

Who will Fleetwood's danger men be on Monday?

Cian Bolger. He was absent on Friday but is 6ft 6ins and wins headers all the time. He is very good in the box and has scored six goals this season.

Also, David Ball has been one of our star men this season. He has 13 league goals as well as six assists, which has helped put us into third.

Who do you think Fleetwood will be looking out for from the Millwall side?

Lee Gregory has 15 goals in League One this season and will likely cause trouble for Fleetwood.

Battling midfielder Ben Thompson is always tough to deal with, and Shaun Williams' ball-playing ability could be a threat.

Obviously the quality of Steve Morison and Jed Wallace too, both could play in the Championship in my opinion.

What formation and line-up do you expect your side to play?

We play a 5-3-2 with three centre-backs and two wing-backs. Hopefully, Devante Cole and Cian Bolger are fit for Monday but I expect a strong line up.

Fleetwood: Cairns; Eastham, Bolger, Davies; McLaughlin, Grant, Glendon, Dempsey, Bell; Burns, Ball.

Finally, what is your score prediction?

Fleetwood 1-1 Millwall

The Cod Army have hit a sticky bit of form at home recently losing to Bolton and Swindon and drawing 0-0 against AFC Wimbledon.

Although Millwall are not as good away this season, picking up 45 points at home compared to just 25 away from The Den, I'm sure that it will be a good match. Good luck for the game!
