League One preview: Fleetwood vs. Millwall

TONY Craig and Shane Ferguson are doubts for Millwall’s trip to Fleetwood on Monday.

Both players have missed the last two fixtures and boss Neil Harris was hoping they would be able to train on Sunday.

Harris said after Friday’s 3-0 win over Northampton: “They’re still not on the training pitch, hence not in the squad. It would be great if they could do some work with the physio and then get on the training pitch Sunday.

“I keep saying the same thing: the nature of the injuries they’ve got we’re literally looking at one day at a time. They could train Sunday, but maybe not.

“I won’t know until Sunday morning. If they do and get through then they are in consideration for the squad on Monday. If not then they don’t come to Fleetwood.

“The beauty for me with three games to go is we had 18 players in that squad that can all play, and play with quality.

“I’ve got Shane and Tony still to come back into it. At this stage of the season you want fit and hungry players and competition in your squad.”

If Craig and Ferguson are ruled out then Joe Martin, who has played just twice since December and set up Aiden O’Brien’s goal against Northampton, will start at left-back.

"Joe has done well, he’s a solid, reliable man and top professional,” Harris said. “He’s a good footballer but has been unlucky in the second part of the season that Tony Craig has been in outstanding form.

“Joe’s been really patient. He lives his life like a top pro and is getting his chance now.”

Cian Bolger, Jimmy Ryan, Devante Cole and Chris Neal are doubts for Fleetwood.

Millwall beat the Cod Army 2-1 at The Den in October. Fleetwood haven’t won at home since February, but can still go up automatically.

@Beardy: Yeah Beardy, we def got the hardest run in. I think we will probably need to win at Fleetwood, cos after Southends 4-0 result they will be on a high, can see them winning every game. The way we are playing, I think we can win our last 3 as well so COYL DO IT !

Got to keep Craig out.every time I see us play without Craig we seem more solid and better attacking down the flanks!!

Could not agree more. Craig is a very loyal player but he does not add quality to the team. Neil says that Craig has been in terrific form and has kept Martin out. I must be watching different games to Neil? Martin adds some football to the side as he demonstrated against Northampton. Craig just lumps the ball up the pitch and he so often passes the ball out of play when he attempts a wing pass. We have played much better football with Martin in the side instead of the constant boring long ball.
