Millwall boost as goalkeeper makes return

JORDAN Archer is back in full training for Millwall and should be available for Friday’s League One clash with Northampton Town at The Den.

Archer has missed the last three games after going off with a quad injury in the 2-0 defeat to Sheffield United on March 28.

Lee Gregory will also train this week after being only briefly involved before coming on in the 65th minute of the 1-1 draw at Gillingham on Saturday.

But Tony Craig (dead leg) and Shane Ferguson (bruised ribs) are doubts to face the Cobblers.

Lions boss Neil Harris said: “Jordan is back in full training and Lee is as well. He only trained for 30 minutes last week, so we thought we’d only put him in for 25 or 30 minutes at the weekend and he came through okay.

“Tony and Shane have an outside chance for the weekend, more of a chance on Monday [against Fleetwood]. They’re still not back in training yet.”

Meanwhile, contract rebel Fred Onyedinma played in the U23s’ 2-1 Professional Development League defeat at Ipswich Town on Monday. Jimmy Abdou was also in Adam Barrett’s side.

Cannot understand why Fred Onyedinma is refusing to sign a new contract. A Premier League club are unlikely to sign him and even if they do he will only be stuck in their reserves. if a Championship club sign him and we get promoted he is no better off. Let him go and sign Jed Wallace permanently instead!!

Can't keep rushing archer back every time he does a bit of training Tom King ain't done much wrong so keep him in. As for Fred if he signed a new contract other clubs would have to pay us more & that would be better for everybody come Fred do the right thing.

@Block28: trouble is agents get in the head of young players convince them they are better than they are and worth more becausr all they are interested in is their commision fred is a decent prospect but would struggle to get in most championship sides

    Agree with all the above.
Firstly, I don't see why King should be dropped just because Archer is available. From what I've seen of them both there's not a lot of difference between the two and the days of having a number one who is way ahead of the back-up is over.
As for Fred, as far as I'm concerned he can sling his hook. The football league is littered with ex Millwall big time charlies who end up at lower league levels or sit on benches. if he doesn't want to sign then fine. We get a fee for him and off he goes. Personally I'd rather see Wallace start in that position anyway.

Totally agree about Fred would rather have Jed Wallace any day than Fred. One day Fred may be good but he is still learning his trade. Has started putting in a few tackles and does a few decent runs every now and again but still lacks the end product. If I was Harris I would be rather disappointed in Fred's loyalty but I suppose that's football these days.

I cannot see what is so great about fred, I have seen better players than him over the years. Also he looks like he`s carrying a hand bag over his arm when he runs at opposing teams.

If he don`t want to stay, get rid of him!!!

With archer injury the longer he takes to heal the better progress he will make instead of coming back and not fully recovered and he gets injured again we want him fully recovered and back to our number 1 COYL NOLU WDC
