League One preview: Sheffield United vs. Millwall

MILLWALL centre-back Byron Webster has come out fighting and insists “no one wants to play us” ahead of their clash with Sheffield United at Bramall Lane on Tuesday night.

The Lions are looking for a first win in five games to reignite their promotion challenge, after seeing their 16-game unbeaten run in the league come to an end at Swindon last Saturday.

Millwall unexpectedly won 2-1 after an Aiden O'Brien double at the home of the Blades last season, and Webster insisted they are confident they can do the same after getting the Robins result out of their system.

“It was one of those days when nothing clicked, nothing worked,” he said. “It wasn’t through a lack of effort or desire. Looking back at it, we didn’t really create anything, neither did they, it was a crap game, to be honest.

“Sheffield United have done well and they’re top for a reason, but no one wants to play us. We haven’t picked up as many results as we’d have liked.

“We go to Sheffield United and we know their strengths, but I’m sure they will be concerned about us as well.”

Millwall boss Neil Harris should have a fully fit squad to choose from, and has the option of restoring the likes of Shaun Cummings and Ben Thompson to the starting XI after admitting after the weekend’s defeat that he could freshen up his side.

Millwall need three points from their game in hand to draw level with Southend in sixth, though they currently are five goals worse off than the Shrimpers.

They will be up against it, with Sheffield United potentially just four games away from securing promotion back to the Championship after a seven-season absence.

Blades boss Chris Wilder will have Daniel Lafferty available after he was an unused substitute in Northern Ireland’s win over Norway in Sunday.

Matty Done came off with concussion in the 1-1 draw with Oldham Athletic on Saturday that stretched United’s unbeaten run to 10 games.

Caolan Lavery is a doubt for the game after he had a scan on a knee injury on Monday.
