GREGG Wylde was on the winning side for the fourth time in the 10 games as Northampton defeated Charlton Athletic 2-1 on Saturday.
Wylde played 80 minutes and helped Justin Edinburgh's side move seven points clear of the relegation zone and heap the misery on Karl Robinson's Addicks.
It was Northampton's first win in 50 years over Charlton, who haven't won in eight games.
Sid Nelson played the opening 45 minutes as Newport County's relegation worries deepened with a 4-0 defeat at home to Leyton Orient. Newport are now 11 points off safety in League Two.
David Forde was beaten by George Ray's 77th-minute header as Portsmouth went down 1-0 at home to Crewe Alexandra in front of over 16,000 fans at Fratton Park. Pompey dropped to fifth place in the League Two table, two points off automatic promotion.
In the National League at the weekend Kris Twardek came off the bench for Braintree in the 57th minute but couldn't help his side avoid a 2-1 defeat at home to Wrexham.
Braintree are in 18th in the league table, eight point clear of the bottom three.
