Millwall and Millwall Supporters Club have confirmed that Micky Simpson will be the club’s new Fan on the Board.
Simpson is taking over from Pete Garston, who steps down at the end of the season after 11 years.
Simpson is known to Millwall fans as one of the founders of Millwall AMS supporters group, who have been behind much of the investigation into Lewisham Council’s plans to seize land around The Den and sell it to a property developer.
And he is determined to be a strong representative within the club for Lions fans as he explained how he got the role.
“I sat on the MSC for the last year,” Simpson said. “The MSC changed their constitution three years ago, only members on board could go for the role.
“That narrowed the selection to around 13. I put my name into the ring and no one else did so there was no election.
“I’m going to be there to represent fans' views to the board. If there are any issues, anything that needs to go back to the club – via email, phone call, etc. – issues with tickets or whatever the concerns might be, then I’ll do that.
“I have the scope to develop the role.
“Part of the conditions of me coming to the MSC was MSC is MSC business, AMS is AMS business.
“I assured them there would be no conflict, I was there to help. Nothing mentioned in an AMS Meeting was mentioned in MSC.
“The profile that I have built up, the guys at MSC thought I was right to take position forward.”
