Harris praises Millwall captain after milestone

NEIL Harris praised Tony Craig after the Lions captain made his 300th appearance for Millwall last weekend at Oldham Athletic.

After missing most of last season with injury, Craig, 31, played his 44th game already this campaign in the 1-0 win over Peterborough United on Tuesday night.

The Millwall skipper recently triggered a clause in his contract giving him an extra year with the club. He will 33 when his current deal ends after the 2017-18 season.

Millwall have suffered a number a recent injury problems to important players, likely partly a consequence of so many games in such a short period of time.

The clash against the Posh was their eighth in February, but Harris doesn’t believe his captain needs a rest.

“I don’t think so,” Harris said. “Some players can just churn out game after game and look after themselves.

“We hope our injury woes are behind us and we’re getting fitter and don’t pick up any more.

“Tony is a player that doesn’t rely on pace and sprinting ability. He’s maybe a little bit more low risk.

“He manages himself and as a professional he is one of the best with recovery, preparation and the way he lives his life.

“He’s been a consistent part of the back four Byron over the last fifteen or so games. That’s been key.

“Hopefully we keep people fit. Players will possibly need a rest at some stage but at the moment players are playing well so it’s important to keep them on the pitch.”

First off I want to say wonderful blog! I had a quick question which I'd like to ask if you don't mind. I was curious to know how you center yourself and clear your mind before writing. I've had trouble clearing my thoughts in getting my ideas out. I do take pleasure in writing however it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are usually lost simply just trying to figure out how to begin. Any suggestions or tips? Many thanks!
