MILLWALL have been linked with a loan move for West Brom striker Chris Wood – but are expected to face stiff competition to land him.
Lions boss Kenny Jackett has made no secret of his desire to strengthen his forward ranks and is planning to bring in reinforcements during the emergency loan window, which opens on Saturday.
20-year-old Wood has already made 25 international appearances for New Zealand, scoring seven goals, and is also said to be attracting interest from Huddersfield and Sheffield Wednesday.
Since joining the Baggies in 2009, Wood has spent time on loan at Barnsley, Brighton, Bristol City and Birmingham, for whom he scored a hat-trick against Millwall in September 2011.
Another Premier League striker who has been tentiviely linked with a move to The Den is Fulham's Marcello Trotta – but NewsAtDen understands the 19-year-old's lack of Championship experience is likely to count against him should Jackett enter the loan market.
