MILLWALL boss Neil Harris said Ben Thompson is "a joy to work with" after the midfielder signed a new contract before the 0-0 draw with Walsall on Wednesday.
Thompson, 21, committed his future to the club he supports until 2020.
He has played 71 times for Millwall, including 34 appearances this season.
"It's brilliant, he's earned it," Harris said. "His performances have been outstanding. He's grown from being a Millwall fan to a regular in the side and one of the first names on the team sheet.
"When the club wanted to offer him a new contract I was fully supportive. He's really driven us forward and progressed as a young man and a player.
"There is so much more to come from him. There is so much he can improve and he wants to work on and he wants to learn.
"He's a joy to work with every day and he will be a big part of the club moving forward in the future."
