Millwall captain on message after Cup win

MILLWALL captain Tony Craig reiterated after Sunday’s FA Cup win over Watford that the league is the priority for the club this season.

Steve Morison’s 85th-minute winner against the Premier League side set up a last-16 meeting with Leicester City or Derby County at The Den next month.

Lions boss Neil Harris said Craig and Morison reminded the squad after their fourth win in the competition this season to look ahead to beating Walsall in League One tomorrow night to enhance their promotion chances.

“It’s a good scalp, Craig said. “It was a very god team performance from start to finish. We looked very well organised but we’ve got to take that into Wednesday, that’s the most important thing.

“We’ll enjoy it but move on to Walsall.

“That’s our aim this season, the league. This is a good bonus, it’s a great result against a Premier League side but we’re going to come in and work hard for Wednesday.”

Morison’s goal against the Hornets was his 14th of the season, and Craig was full of praise for the Lions vice-captain.

He said: “That’s Steve all over, another great finish. He’s got a lot of experience under his belt and we had words after the game, we both spoke and he speaks a lot of sense. We know what’s at stake.”

Watford are the second Premier League side Millwall have knocked out of this season’s FA Cup, and under-pressure Mazzarri was critical of their opponent’s approach to the contest.

But Craig preferred to focus on the positives for Millwall after they extended their unbeaten run to eight games in all competitions.

“We had a game plan and we certainly stuck to it and it worked,” Craig said. “We put them under the cosh from the first 20 seconds, we had a chance there.

“We set our game plan last week and we executed it very well.

“Things are looking very bright for the club at the moment. There have been some tricky times with the CPO. I’m glad we got the result with that but we can only concentrate on the pitch and the results are going not too bad for us at the moment.

“There was a fantastic atmosphere, they were with us from start to finish. They’re very important until the end of the season.

“We’ve kept our unbeaten run, and it’s good for the finances of the club. It was a good day all round."
