FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION boss Greg Clarke has hit out at plans to take land around The Den away from Millwall and has offered his support as the club battles to stop the controversial move.
Ahead of this Wednesday’s adjourned Lewisham Council meeting at which it was to discuss a compulsory purchase order, Mr Clarke wrote to Millwall chairman John Berylson, asking him to get in contact if he needs any assistance, after Southwark News approached the FA for its view on the issue.
On the controversial proposal, Clarke (above) said he struggled “to see how such action can be in the public interest”.
He also praised the club, saying: “Millwall over the years has led the way on many important issues.”
