Jackett: Osborne can establish himself in the Championship

KARLEIGH Osborne has the "power and personality" required to establish himself in the Championship, according to Millwall manager Kenny Jackett.

The centre-back put in an assured display against Middlesbrough's powerful front pairing of Ishmael Miller and Marvin Emnes during the Lions' 3-1 win at The Den on Saturday.

The summer signing from Brentford has had a mixed start to life in SE16, impressing in the win at Peterborough on August 23 but then struggling in the defeat to Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough just days later.

And Jackett has admitted Osborne's form is likely to be inconsistent as he adapts to playing in the second tier for the first time in his career.

"In terms of right now, he's a work in progress for us having picked him up in the summer for nothing," he said.

"At 24, he has the ability to play in this division and it's really down to his concentration now."

"Karleigh has all the basics. I think he has to keep working at his fitness, especially you look at the number of games he played last year [27] and the fact he had injuries. But he's got the power and the personality to do well, definitely."
