MILLWALL centre-back Rian Bray scored his first goal in senior football as Leatherhead defeated Metropolitan Police 2-1 on Boxing Day.
Jimmy Bullard’s Leatherhead took the lead after half-time through Mohammed Sagaf, before Dan Summer’s equalised for the away side with nine minutes left.
But Bray scored in the 87th minute to give the Isthmian League Premier Division side the win.
In the National League on Monday, Paul Rooney enjoyed a dramatic cameo for Torquay, who let a three-goal lead slip with 20 minutes left against Forest Green before eventually winning 4-3.
Defender Rooney came on just after Nathan Blissett had put Torquay ahead in the 55th minute. The Gulls seemed to be coasting after further strikes from David Fitzpatrick and Sean McGinty, but three goals in four minutes from Christian Doige, Charlie Clough, and Ethan Pinnock hauled the away side level.
Forest Green seemed set to get a winner as they poured forward, but Ben Gerring scored nine minutes from time to settle a thrilling game.
It was also a positive afternoon for Millwall loanees in League Two.
David Forde’s Portsmouth came back from two goals down to win 3-2 at Newport. Pompey remain in fourth place in the table, five points off Carlisle in the last automatic promotion spot.
Wycombe are just three points further back. Paris Cowan-Hall played 90 minutes as the Chairboys’ eight-game winning streak came to an end. But Miles Weston’s 90th-minute equaliser at table-toppers Plymouth secured a 3-3 draw.
