Checkatrade Trophy preview: Millwall vs. Wycombe

MILLWALL will again be without Steve Morison and Shaun Hutchinson for the second round of the Checkatrade Trophy against Wycombe at The Den on Wednesday night.

Lee Gregory may be rested after returning from injury in the 5-2 win over Braintree on Sunday with Millwall facing Shrewsbury in League One on Saturday.

Shaun Cummings, Christian Mbulu and Alfie Pavey were all left out of the Millwall U23 squad as Justin Skinner’s side defeated Crewe 3-0 on Monday.

“Still no Moro or Hutch,” Lions boss Neil Harris said. “Both are progressing, Hutch is back training and Moro is getting closer all the time but is still probably a couple of weeks away.

“We picked up a couple of knocks at the weekend. Lee Gregory to go again is a big ask so that’s probably a no-go for us.

“We have to look at a couple of others who are carrying slight knocks. There will be changes to the team.

"This competition has been brilliant for us. We used is really wisely last year and this year to build momentum and blood young players.

“For me the purpose of the competition is to bring through young players and give them exposure to league-type matches in front of crowds.

“Anyone that didn’t play yesterday will be included in the squad. We talk about three games in six days but really with our squad it’s four games in six days because the U23s had to play as well.

“We have to try to balance it, but if players who played Monday have to go on the bench then so be it, the young players can handle that.

“At the moment the 20-man squad involved at the weekend will carry us through this week.”

Winger Paris Cowan-Hall, who has played 14 times and scored twice for the Chairboys this season, can’t play against his parent club.
