KENNY Jackett has underlined his desire to keep hold of key midfield duo Liam Trotter and Jimmy Abdou, with the pair set to resume contract talks this month.
Trotter and Abdou were offered new deals by Millwall at the end of last season but neither player put pen-to-paper over the summer.
And Jackett says tying the duo down would be a welcome boost to the Lions – particularly in the case of Abdou, who is out-of-contract next June.
Trotter attracted interest from Southampton, West Ham, Stoke and Aston Villa during the recently-closed transfer window and has begun the new season in goalscoring form, netting against Sheffield Wednesday and Middlesbrough.
Asked by NewsAtDen about negotiations with Trotter, Jackett said: "We've talked to him before but he has two years left on his contract, so it's not necessarily something that's been imperative.
"But Liam is our vice-captain and we think a very good player, so I would say our door is open.
"Jimmy is definitely one we would like to keep. [His situation is] similar to Trotter's. He's been a really good player for us and most importantly he has a good future ahead of him."
