MILLWALL are hopeful Aiden O’Brien has not sustained any serious knee damage.
The Lions attacker, who has scored five goals this season, hobbled off against Rochdale last Saturday after catching his studs in the Den turf.
He missed the 3-1 defeat to Port Vale on Tuesday night and is scheduled to have further tests to determine how long he will be out.
“Aiden will see a specialist (Wednesday),” Millwall boss Neil Harris said after the Vale Park loss. “After the initial scan, albeit with a little bit of swelling there, it looks like the major joints in the knee are intact, it looks like there has been no serious damage.
“We’ll be 100 per cent sure (Wednesday) but presumably if the scan is correct then we’re looking at Aiden being out for weeks rather than longer term.
“We’re hopeful with that because he’s a loss on the pitch. His character is a loss as well, his infectiousness and his goal-scoring ability.
“It’s good news is it doesn’t look like it’s going to be long term, but every game he misses is a blow for us.”
