Lowry: Clean sheets the key to Lions finding winning forumla

SHANE Lowry believes Millwall will have to shore up their leaky defence if they are to start winning matches in the Championship.

Kenny Jackett's side welcome Middlesbrough to The Den on Saturday in their fourth league fixture of the season, having conceded a total of six goals in the first three.

And Lowry, 23, is confident the wins will take care of themselves if the Lions can start keeping clean sheets again.

"We need to get our first three points at home," he told the club's official site. "And we need to get back to keeping clean sheets like we did at the end of last season.

"We've been unlucky with injuries, especially in pre-season, but we can't use that as an excuse because we have the depth in the squad to take care of that.

"There are a lot of big teams in this division this year and some have really thrown a lot of money about.

"But we are concentrating on ourselves, how we are playing – which is a slightly different style this year – and we are all looking forward to Middlesbrough to try and get our first home win of the season."
