MILLWALL’S Mahlon Romeo has laughed off recent reports linking West Ham with a move for him.
Earlier this month The Sun claimed Hammers boss Slaven Bilic was interested in the 20-year-old right-back and was willing to part with £2million to prise him away from the Lions.
Romeo has enjoyed a meteoric rise since making his first-team debut for Millwall, missing only three competitive fixtures since February after he was sent off on the last day of the 2015-16 League One season at Gillingham and suspended for the play-off campaign.
Lions boss Neil Harris put him straight back into the starting line-up against Oldham on the opening day of the League One campaign and he has made nine appearances this season.
In March, Romeo signed a new long-term deal with Millwall that ties him to the club until the summer of 2019, and he is refusing to have his head turned by newspaper headlines.
Romeo said: “I don’t make up the rumours, you wake up one day and you see it and think, ‘Where’s that come from, who’s made that up?’
“I just laugh it off really. I’ve never been one to be easily strayed with things like that.
“I’m focussed on being a Millwall player and I’m enjoying my time here.”
