NEIL Harris hopes Lee Gregory will play a full part in training this week ahead of the League One meeting at Southend next Saturday.
Gregory wasn’t in the matchday squad at the weekend for the fifth successive game, as Millwall came from behind to draw 1-1 with Coventry.
Harris said Gregory wasn’t far off being ready for the fixture, but the striker looks set to be in contention to feature against the struggling Shrimpers.
Harris also revealed illness kept Shane Ferguson on the bench until the 60th minute against Coventry, but he is confident of having an almost fully fit squad before next weekend.
“This game just came slightly too quick for him, just a couple of days too soon,” Harris said of Gregory after Saturday’s draw.
“Hopefully he’s be back in the training group Tuesday.
“Shane would have played but was ill overnight and wasn’t ready to start. Twenty minutes was probably enough for him but needs must that we put him slightly earlier.
“Hopefully having Lee Gregory back just week will be a big boost for the squad.”
