MILLWALL striker Lee Gregory has ended any doubts over his future at the club by signing a new contract that will take him up to the summer of 2018.
Gregory joined Millwall from Halifax Town for £250,000 in June 2014 and is just one game short of his 100th appearance for the club.
The 28-year-old centre-forward was Millwall’s top scorer last season with 27 goals. He scored in the first game of the 2016-17 season against Oldham to bring his total tally for the club to 37, but a hip injury has limited his involvement this campaign to just four games.
It was reported in July that Gregory had handed in a transfer request amid interest from Championship club Rotherham, but those reports were inaccurate.
The Millers did bid for Gregory but were told they weren’t close to the club’s valuation of him.
Gregory told Millwall’s official website: "There was a lot of speculation about me going somewhere but this has cleared that up now. I'm with Millwall for the next two years and I'm happy with the new deal.
"The gaffer showed his faith in me as soon as he came in so it was good that I could repay him with the goals last year.
"I can't wait to get back out on the pitch to score some goals."
Gregory is a doubt for Saturday’s meeting with Coventry but, after Byron Webster and Jordan Archer’s recent new deals, securing the long-term future of one of the most sought after strikers in League One is a big boost for Millwall boss Neil Harris.
