EFL Trophy preview: Millwall vs. West Brom U23s

MILLWALL boss Neil Harris must pick five of the players who started at Chesterfield on Saturday for the EFL Trophy group-stage clash with West Brom U23s on Tuesday night, as per competition rules.

Injuries to Fred Onyedinma, Joe Martin and Lee Gregory restrict his options, while Shane Ferguson is on international duty with Northern Ireland.

Shaun Hutchinson and Shaun Cummings are also out and Harris has made no secret of the fact that the League One fixture against Bradford at The Den next Saturday is his main focus.

If the fixture against the Baggies ends in a draw both teams will be awarded a point before the winner of the subsequent penalty shootout earns an extra point.

Martin will have his shoulder injury assessed on Monday, while Harris is hopeful Gregory will recover from a hip problem to face the Bantams.

Onyedinma is almost certainly out after lasting just six minutes against Chesterfield after coming on for Martin.

Asked afterwards if that was a tactical move, Harris said: "I certainly wouldn't do that to one of my players, a few minutes montauk-monster.com/pharmacy/cymbalta after coming on to take him off again.

"He was injured. He got a whack on Tuesday night (against Nottingham Forest) and had to come off the pitch. He trained on Friday and was okay. I thought he got fouled two minutes after coming on but the ref played on and it flared up again. It was an enforced change.

"Lee wasn't quite ready and won't be involved on Tuesday night. We're hopeful that by next Saturday he'll be fine.

"I have to play five players. It'll be a case on Monday of who is fit to play. We're got some players out there who have played a lot of minutes, Ben Thompson has played every game.

"I'm going to have to try to pick a side that will be competitive but my priority is Bradford next Saturday."

Harris could decide to give Calum Butcher (above) his full Lions debut.

Possible Millwall team:

4-4-2: King; Romeo, Nelson, Craig, Chesmain; Worrall, Butcher, Williams, Wylde; O'Brien, Philpot.

Match odds:
