Euro Watch: Millwall's Shane Ferguson bows out

SHANE Ferguson's EURO 2016 campaign came to a close on Saturday afternoon, courtesy of Northern Ireland's 1-0 Last 16 defeat to Wales.

In a tight contest in Paris, Gareth McAuley's unfortunate 75th minute own-goal was all that was needed to separate the sides.

Despite starting Ireland's opening game of the competition against Poland, Ferguson remained an unused substitute for the third game running.

Wales will now face Belgium in Friday's quarter-final, whilst Ferguson and his Northern Ireland compatriots will be looking forward to returning to pre-season training at their respective clubs.
