Report: QPR U21s 2-0 Millwall U21s

MILLWALL'S U21 side were beaten 2-0 by QPR in their second Development League 2 match of the season.

Goals from the lively Mo Shariff and Frankie Sutherland secured victory for the Premier League club in a game which was largely dictated by two of the home side's overage stars – Alejandro Faurlin and Kieron Dyer.

The best chance of the opening exchanges fell to Dyer who, after a one-two with Rob Hulse on the edge of the penalty area, found himself one-on-one with Steve Mildenhall but spurned the chance, forcing a smart one-handed save from the Lions keeper.

QPR should have opened the scoring midway through the first-half when Faurlin did well to find Shariff – playing in a free role – whose cross-shot was almost squeezed in at the far post by Hulse.

Millwall's best opportunity of the half fell to Khari Oriogun, who did well to beat Faurlin to the ball before taking a touch into the box and firing straight at R's keeper Aaron Lennox.

The Lions started the second period the brighter of the two sides but Jason Twum could not convert Jack Sammoutis' excellent cross at the back post in the 51st minute.

Shortly after, Conor Wilkinson jinked his way into a shooting position only to see his effort blocked by centre-back Max Ehmer.

Shariff, who had previously spurned two good opportunities in quick succesion, finally broke the deadlock when he headed in substitute Bruno Andrade's clever cross in the 70th minute.

Millwall were undone again eight minutes later when a half-cleared corner fell into the path of Michael Doughty, whose fizzing shot was toed-in by Sutherland.

Aiden O'Brien had a chance to pull a goal back in the dying stages but his rifled shot went straight into the hands of Lennox as QPR held on to claim a clean sheet.

QPR: Lennox, Harriman, Sendles-White, Faurlin (Hunt-Laurent 64), Parmenter, Ehmer, Sutherland, Dyer (Andrade 60), Hulse, Doughty, Shariff (Hitchcock 78).
