MILLWALL have released an official statement after some fans broke through security barriers to appear to start fighting with Barnsley supporters during the League One play-off final.
Images showed Lions fans move towards where Barnsley supporters were sitting as security on one of the upper tiers at Wembley struggled to contain the situation.
Trouble flared with Barnsley leading in the second half. Millwall manager Neil Harris was asked about the incident after his side had lost the game 3-1, but he declined to comment.
A statement released on the club’s website read: “Millwall Football Club deplores the actions of a small minority of its fans during the second-half of Sunday's League One Play-Off Final.
“Such behaviour is unacceptable and anyone found guilty of disorder will face life bans from the football club.”
