MILLWALL COULD decide to offer a contract to Ashley Nadesan, who has been on trial with the club.
Nadesan, a 21-year-old centre-forward who plays for Horley Town in the Combined Counties League Premier Division, featured for Millwall’s U21s in their 3-0 defeat to Birmingham City last Thursday.
He was given another opportunity against Barnsley on Monday, and scored the fourth goal as Justin Skinner’s side defeated the Tykes 4-2.
Reports are linking a number of clubs with a move for Nadesan, with Leicester and Bournemouth the latest sides said to be keeping an eye on his progress.
Nadesan, who works in McDonald’s, has been with Horley Town for four years, spending one in the youth team and three with the senior side. He has scored 39 league goals this season.
Millwall manager Neil Harris admitted he was impressed with Nadesan as the club decide whether to firm up their interest in the player.
“Ashley has been scoring goals for a couple of years now lower down the pyramid, and those feats were brought to our attention,” Harris explained.
“We watched him play a couple of times and thought he was at a level that it was worth us having a look. He’s come in for us to check out his personality, to see what he’s like as a lad – and he’s a smashing boy.
“And then obviously we wanted to give him the opportunity to impress, and he did that on Monday. So we’ll see where it goes now.
“He was here for a week. His club Horley Town have a couple of big games coming up so he’s going to go back and play for them.
“We’ll be speaking to them in due course to see if we will take it further.”
Nadesan is due to feature for Horley in their league fixture against Chessington & Hook on Thursday night. Horley are currently sixth in the table as they chase promotion.
