IT was a battle of the Millwall loanees as Alfie Pavey’s Aldershot overcame Tom King’s Braintree 2-1 in their National League clash on Monday night.
Simeon Akinola put Braintree ahead before King conceded his first goal in 531 minutes when former Millwall trainee Omar Beckles headed the Shots level.
Nathan Ralph’s winner in the 69th minute knocked Braintree out of the play-off spots as Aldershot stayed in 15th place in the table. Jack Powell also started for Braintree.
In League Two, John Marquis scored his fifth goal in eight games as Northampton extended their unbeaten league run to 17 games.
The Cobblers went two goals down at Mansfield before Ricky Holmes’ penalty halved the deficit and Marquis completed the comeback when he finished from close range in the 68th minute.
Meanwhile, defender Keaton Wood was in the Dartford team as they came from a goal down to draw 1-1 with Ebbsfleet in National League South.
