MILLWALL have received a huge boost with the news that Mahlon Romeo has committed his future to the club until the summer of 2019.
The 20-year-old joined the Lions on an initial one-year deal last May after his release by Gillingham, where he made just one senior competitive appearance.
Romeo had been earmarked for a season with the U21s after convincing Neil Harris and academy boss Scott Fitzgerald of his potential during a trial spell towards the end of last season.
But injuries to regular right-backs Carlos Edwards and Shaun Cummings gave him his chance and he has made a big impact, scoring on his debut in the 3-0 win at Walsall and starting all eight games since despite the return of Edwards.
Romeo's deal is the latest signal of the Lions' long-term commitment to securing their younger players' futures after Ben Thompson, Sid Nelson, Aiden O'Brien and Fred Onyedinma all penned new deals this season.
