STRIKER Shaun Batt says he is getting fitter and stronger by the week after scoring his first competitive goal for Millwall since April 2010.

Batt, who was sidelined for over 18 months by an horrific knee injury, struck in the 85th minute of the Lions penalty shoot-out defeat to Crawley Town on Tuesday night and manager Kenny Jackett was impressed with the 25-year-old's overall performance.

"It's been a long time coming and the boys even had to remind me to celebrate," Batt told Lions Player.

"It was nice to score in the first competitive game of the season.

"I've played a lot of minutes in the past few weeks because I played a few behind-closed-doors friendlies. I'm getting fitter and feeling strong.

"I have no worries about knee and I just want to do well for the team.  I've put a lot of hard work in to get where I am and I have to have faith in my body."
