NEIL Harris and Oldham boss David Dunn asked referee Richard Clark to consider allowing Millwall’s fixture at Boundary Park to go ahead on Saturday afternoon.

Clark deemed the surface unplayable after an inspection just an hour and a half before the scheduled kick-off time following several hours of heavy rainfall.

But Millwall manager Harris said he understood the referee’s decision, and he also felt sympathy for the Lions fans who had made the long trip north.

“It’s disappointing for ourselves, the travelling, the time and preparation we put into the game and the momentum we had from Tuesday night,” Harris said.

“And of course the cost and time spent for our fans travelling up here. I ask could we learn from this, is there anything different we could do? It’s hard because you can see the rain coming down, the pitch isn’t going to get any better.

“And that was one aspect of the referee’s decision, the weather report was saying it was going to rain non-stop right through the game.

“It’s frustrating and disappointing because we’d like to have played.”
