ED Upson and Sid Nelson could feature for the Elite Development Squad in their London derby against Crystal Palace at The Den this afternoon.

Nelson made his first appearance in almost two months for Neil Harris’ senior side against Plymouth on Tuesday night when he came on for the injured Carlos Edwards.

Midfielder Upson had been out since damaging his knee against Peterborough on October 3 but made his comeback as an 83rd-minute replacement for Aiden O’Brien.

Millwall don’t play again until their Sky Bet League One meeting with Colchester on Saturday week, so both players could get the opportunity to build up their match fitness in Justin Skinner’s side.

Jimmy Abdou is still a few weeks away from a return and captain Tony Craig is expected to be out for a much longer spell after his recent surgery, but otherwise Harris should have more options than have been available to him in recent weeks for the visit of Tony Humes’ side.

“We’ve won another Johnstone’s Paint Trophy game before the international break and of course we’d like to play and keep the run going,” he said. “But we’ve got international call-ups, Carlos went off against Plymouth, and there a few other little niggles.

“We’ve got an U21 game Friday which will be an opportunity for some of them to get minutes, which is key.

“Hopefully by the time we get around to Colchester we’ve got nearly a fully fit squad.”

Millwall are second in the U21 Professional Development League 2, one point off top spot.
