MILLWALL boss Kenny Jackett has welcomed the arrival of free agent Danny Shittu on a one-year deal.
The powerful defender put pen-to-paper on a contract with the Lions on Monday morning after impressing sufficiently in training last week.
And Jackett, who had been outspoken in his desire to sign a centre-back ahead of the new season, believes Shittu will add strength and depth to his squad.
"I'm very pleased to add another experienced defender to the ranks," he told the club's official site.
"Danny has an excellent Championship pedigree and will make a contribution in ensuring we are defensively strong."
Jackett also thanked Scott Barron for his contribution to Millwall after the left-back travelled to Brentford to undergo a medical ahead of a move to the League One club.
He said: "He is a very versatile player who has filled in a number of positions in midfield and at the back for us, in addition to his more natural left back role.
"I would like to wish him all the very best for the future."
