MILLWALL's Aiden O'Brien has been named the Sky Bet League One Player of the Month for October.

The 22-year-old attacker scored three league goals last month and finished ahead of Coventry's Adam Armstrong, Bradford defender Reece Burke and Jon Taylor of Peterborough who had also been nominated.

As well as his excellent league form, O'Brien netted against Northampton in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy to help the Lions through to the area quarter-finals.

Neil Harris has used O'Brien on both flanks and up front recently and the former Republic of Ireland underage international is the club's top scorer this season with seven goals.

O'Brien told the club's official website: "It is a great moment for me to win this award but I wouldn't have been able to without my team-mates. We have managed to start climbing up the table in recent weeks and it is always good to play your part by scoring goals.

"Quite a few of the lads have been chipping in so far this season, which is always important, and hopefully that will continue. October was a good month for us and we need to carry on playing in the same way."
