MILLWALL are reported to have given left-back Scott Barron permission to hold talks with League One side Coventry City.

Lions chief executive Andy Ambler has told the South London Press that Barron has been cleared to speak to the Sky Blues, although a fee for the 26-year-old has yet to be agreed.

However, the Midlands clubs have this morning denied that they are close to signing Barron and insisted that no official discussions have taken place with the player or his agent.

Barron, who was a second-half substitute in Millwall's 2-1 pre-season win over Southend United on Tuesday night, had been expected to provide competition with new arrival Scott Malone for the left-back berth this year.
