Report: Southend United 1-2 Millwall

MILLWALL'S pre-season programme ended on a winning note with a 2-1 victory over Southend United at Roots Hall.

Summer signing Chris Taylor scored his third goal in two games, adding to his double at Exeter City last weekend, to put the Lions ahead, before a fine individual goal from Dany N'Guessan made it 2-0.

Club legend Neil Harris, now plying his trade for the Shrimpers, saw his penalty well saved by Maik Taylor at the end of a frantic five minutes midway through the first half.

But the home side eventually pulled a goal back when trialist John tadalafil Spicer headed home in the 63rd minute.

And it took an instinctive save from Taylor to keep out former Den defender Mark Phillips' header to preserve Millwall's lead.

Harris then saw a last-minute header ruled out for offside as Southend pushed in vain for an equaliser.

Kenny Jackett's men now face Crawley Town at The Den next Tuesday in the first round of this season's League Cup.
