MILLWALL have failed with a bid of around £200,000 for Wycombe Wanderers striker Stuart Beavon.

The League Two side are also reported to have snubbed an offer from Preston North End for the 28-year-old.

NewsAtDen understands the Chairboys, who were recently taken over by fans' group Wycombe Wanderers Trust Ltd, are looking for a package worth £350,000 for last season's top-scorer.

That is significantly less than the asking price of former chairman Steve Hayes.

Boss Kenny Jackett had previously cooled his interest in Beavon after making an enquiry at the start of the summer – but having failed to land Arsenal's Benik Afobe on loan, the Lions boss has returned with an offer for his former target.

Beavon has been in prolific form during pre-season, scoring his third and fourth goals of the summer in a 3-2 win over Cambridge on Saturday.
