Bolton boss Coyle set to win race for Millwall target Afobe

BOLTON are expected to complete the signing of Millwall target Benik Afobe within the next 24 hours.

The Arsenal striker is reported to have turned down a move to The Den in favour of joining Owen Coyle's side on loan for next season.

The Trotters have also been the recipients of young Gunners stars such as Jack Wilshere and Ryo Miyaichi┬áin recent years – a track record that is likely to have had a major bearing on Afobe's decision.

It is understood that boss Kenny Jackett's loan bid for the England U19 international was initially accepted by Arsenal, but that the player himself rejected the switch to SE16.

It is the second successive summer that Millwall's pursuit of Afobe has ended in disappointment – last year a six-month ankle injury forced Jackett to switch his attentions to other targets.
