Millwall set to miss out on sell-on fee for Everton midfielder

MILLWALL are unlikely to receive a fee as a result of Tim Cahill's imminent move from Everton to the New York Red Bulls.

Despite the existence of a sell-on clause in the deal that took Cahill from The Den to Goodison Park eight years ago, that term is only valid should the Premier League club make a profit on the Australian international.

Cahill moved to Merseyside in 2004 for a meagre £1.5million – but the 32-year-old is expected to make the move to Major League Soccer for just £1m, meaning the Lions' sell-on clause is void.

The Sydney-born midfielder scored 52 goals in 217 appearances for Millwall between 1998 and 2004.
