BOSS Kenny Jackett praised Shaun Batt after the striker's double in Millwall's 4-1 win over Longford Town on Wednesday evening.

Batt, 25, scored his first goals in a Lions shirt in over 18 months to set the visitors on their way to a comfortable victory at Flancare Park.

And youngsters John Marquis and Aiden O'Brien were also on target in what proved to be a satisfying workout for Jackett's side.

"I was particularly pleased to see Shaun get on the scoresheet twice and I thought he linked up well with Andy Keogh," he told the club's official site.

"I don't want to put the mockers on the lad, but he hasn't missed a day's training since he returned to us from his loan spell at Crawley last season, and there are signs that he is getting back to the player we saw when he joined us from Peterborough.

"It was also encouraging to see two of the younger lads, John Marquis and Aiden O'Brien amongst the goals as well, and this is a good opportunity to look at all the youngsters in this environment because the development of our own young players is very important at our club.

"This tour as a whole is working well for us. The facilities are excellent, we're working hard at getting across to the players what is expected in every position and putting it into practice in the games."
