MICK Harford, Millwall's chief scout, has travelled to France to scout potential targets for the January transfer window.

Manager Ian Holloway has spoken recently of the need for the Lions to look abroad for new players.

Harford's first game was Sochaux vs. Angers on Thursday night and he is expected to watch several other Ligue 2 fixtures before returning to the UK.

NewsAtDen understands that Harford was keeping an eye on Angers striker Jonathan Kodija, who has scored eight goals in 18 appearances this season.

Now is NOT the time to gamble on players of unknown quantity. We need a proven goalscorer NOW. Hopefully we can get rid of as much dead wood as possible, and that will give us more room to bring in 1 or 2 decent players?

He looks quality but so did the support he recieved, If we signed him (by some miracle) we would have two quality strikers and no one to support them other than Mc donald and hes getting on !!!!!

8 x goals in 18 x games is NOT a great feat, and how many were penalties. Div 1 or Div 2 in England will be more fruitful ! Seen enough of abroad players brought to Millwall, remember the Russian pair ? ( BLIMEY ! ). NOLU, WDC . Ps. What's Gibbs doing, cooking the Christmas Pudding ?

@BUSHWACKER14: Ah the Russians. They were pony but getting a season record attendance against Port Vale of 14000 was quite funny. I agree stick with England. Someone who understands the league and don't mind playing in February in zero temperature.

he looks powerful - but we won't get him - plus the bottom of ligue 1 is the same quality as the championship - so why is he in ligue 2

spend half a mill on him and have done with it and a midfielder with some b***** - oh and a CB who can pass a ball and not fall over

He looks quality judging by his best bits but French football is played at a snails pace, the Championship is another world from what he will be used to, so the settling in period might be to long for him to save us. Anyway if he looks at our highlights this season he will end up warming Leicester's bench with Chris Woods!

Question is how long will the new signing have to adapt to the English game? We need results fast, last season Ollie came in just after New Year and we stayed up by the skin of our teeth. French players may be good in the long term but right now we need the finished article not a gamble.

Anyway whoever we get maybe irrelevant with a manager that is tactically so naive. I never wanted Holloway but i thought he would be good at motovating the players..F*** i got that bit wrong!

@The Roar: shame to say it, but I agree - you can't fault the man for effort, but if you compare him to say Trotter, who chipped in with a fair few goals and was good at making that killer final pass....
Scott lacks composure at times, gives the ball away A LOT - and he cannot score! Ffs his goalscoring record is probably worse than half of our defenders!! Add to that the fact he's probably one of highest paid players in the sqaud... Alarm bells are ringing.. Maybe signing him for a cheaper deal would fly... Sqaud player??? But as it stands, we can't afford a player like him on our books....
Free up some dosh - bring in a proven goalscorer (don't care what nationality - PROVEN!) and a pacey right winger... Happy days.... Merry xmas and (hopefully!) and happy new year. COYL!!!!

Kodjia looks a handy player to have, he has got what we sorely miss, flair, creativity and is a good age but would still prefer Afobe. Really Olly if you want to change this team inside and out including the way we play then we goner need quite a few Kodjia and Afobe type of players all over the pitch just like what table topping Bournemouth have. We sorely lack creativty and pace in our entire squad of 108+ so called first team players (carthorses) and its slowly, painfully sinking us into the oblivion of league one for the 4th season running

@harry2310: totally agree Harry, coach, he'd be better off driving a f***ing coach. What has he brought to the club. I would like to see Mcdermott as manager. Did a good job at Reading.

I don't think this guy could spot talent if you took him to a miss world contest, how much local talent has he missed from teams like Dulwich Hamlet, Luton etc. we were all shouting Andre Grey's name a couple of seasons back, look what he's doing for Brentford now. All he seems to spot is washed up wage thieves from off his data base. Going to France to look for talent don't make me fkg laugh.

I bet Newcastle are gutted he turned them down absolutely useless how on earth do fellow fans know more about potential young players before the scouts ? , Ward has just scored again today the only job Hartford should have been offered at Millwall was in the club shop .

Who the has Harford recommended thus far ---- no one to my knowledge ---- he may as well go along with the deadwood, Ambler and Holloway, have a good clear out, feel much better for it, work with those who WANT to play for Millwall
