Icelandic midfielder holds Millwall talks but set for Wolves

MILLWALL are set to miss out on Iceland international Gudmundur Thorarinsson after he flew into London for talks.

Thorarinsson, an attacking midfielder who plays for Sarpsborg 08, was given a tour of the Lions' training ground on Monday.

But the 22-year-old also travelled to the Midlands to meet with ex-Den boss Kenny Jackett at Wolves.

And it is understood that Thorarinsson, who is hoping to move to English football in January, would prefer a move to Molineux.

"Playing in the Championship would be a good opportunity," the youngster said.

"Gylfi Sigurdsson is a good example of that when he played for Reading. The main thing is to find a team that suits me and my style.

"I was a little skeptical when I heard of interest from Championsip clubs, but you can see that this is a strong division.

"I've been playing almost every game for Sarpsborg in the last two seasons and I feel ready to take the next step."

But manager Ian Holloway confirmed to the Southwark News that Thorarinsson's visit to the club would not materialise into a transfer.

@Geoff the lion: I very much doubt Ollie is only looking at Midfielders but if we can sign 1 who can score goals and then get a striker in.... WIN/WIN

@Geoff the lion: A decent Right Winger wouldn't be a bad idea either..... never really replaced Henry and Feeney - and Wilko isn't a WB....

Good to see IH looking at top talent, at 22 this guy is the right age and scores goals from midfield, shame we won't be getting him!!

Although don't see the point with this article.... feel like I've been on a gameshow - "here's what you could have won"

I understand that Mario Balotelli could be available in the loan window, now that would put a few thousand on the gate and at last he could find a club as different as he is.

Glad we ain't gonna sign him trying to say "Magaye Gueye" is hard enough. But if had a powerful shot on him surely he would have become "The hammer of Thor".

@Millwallsteve: we have to look at cbs attacking mid.and strikers..cos shittu wont be here next year and
Probably beevers? Mcdonald is not our answer to the attacking mid.& someone better then fuller cos he wont be here either.in fact there will be a lot gone in the summer..this can only happen if we can draft in better players otherswise we'll be stuck with the over 30 gang for another year

@Sealion: Or maybe it was the compulsory minimum 3 month wait before getting anywhere near the bench that put him off.
