Forde expects Millwall to bounce back from Boro thrashing

DAVID Forde is confident Millwall have enough character to bounce back from Saturday's 5-1 loss to Middlesbrough.

The Lions head to the south coast on Friday night for a televised clash with fellow strugglers Brighton, needing a win to get their season back on track.

And Forde said: "We were all bitterly disappointed after the Boro game and maybe one or two harsh words were said because that wasn't a Millwall performance in the first half.

"But I've experienced that sort of thing before, when we suffered heavy home defeats to Watford and Birmingham under Kenny.

"On those occasions we knuckled down and bounced back, and with the character in this squad I fully expect us to do the same again."

Speaking to the club's official site, the goalkeeper added: "We have the opportunity to put the memories of Middlesbrough firmly behind us by going to Brighton on Friday in front of the Sky cameras and showing what we're really capable of.

"We were unlucky not to win down there last season, and I still haven't been on the winning side at their new stadium, so this would be the perfect time to rectify that."

I seem to remember hearing this on several occasions now and I'm still waiting for the bounce back.

How many more players are going to tell us the same spill.
    Yet nothing changes.

Iam glad to see these players come out & say they will try & put it right. It's easy to come on here when things are going well. It shows the ones that care. Come on forde give it to em. Coyl.

Really hope IH stops all the effing about by naming our strongest 11 and then sticking with them win or lose, consistent team is key and if we go down will due to us simply not being good enough..
    Forde,
    Wilkinson, Dunne, Shittu, Malone
    Martin, Williams, McDonald, Woolford
    Gueye, Fuller
    Think that's are best 11...

@davesavagesleftfoot: Not a bad 11 , if I changed anybody, Dunny would make way for one of the youth players we have! Sadly, in truth, even these players will have a tough time saving us "Long - Term" .......( but already looking forward to travelling to places like Oldham,Fleetwood,Peterborough & Walsall. ( NOLU, WDC ).

I recon the best team for the situation we're currently in is:

      Forde
      Wilkinson-shittu-beevers-dunne
      Martin-williams-jimmy-woolford
      Gregory-mcdonald.

I think we need players who are strong mentally, and know how to play for millwall (that's why i put dunne instead of briggs or malone, and left out gueye) and players who cause trouble and who actually have talent (which is why i left out fuller). Williams to keep the ball and give it to whoever he wants, and jimmy to break up the play and give it to williams. I also have mcd up front instead of cam because we need 2 strikers. Since martin is injured, I'd start gueye against brighton, but have a big character beside him to encourage him, and keep his confidence high (again, in steps jimmy) and when martin is fit, gueye can come on for woolford because I don't rate him. I only have him there because when he plays well, he's next to unstoppable, and was our top scorer last season. Then when/if this team brings us higher up the table, we can start chucking in players like malone and gueye who have bundles of talent, but dont have the mental stability.

@mfclions: we have been tight in a 4-3-3 formation all season, here's my team for Friday, fire away boys and girls:

        Forde
        Wilkinson/Webster/Dunne/Briggs
        Williams/Abdou/Woolford
        Gueye/MacD/Gregory

        Assuming Martin is injured.
