Millwall winger has toe injections, will miss Brighton clash

LEE Martin has been ruled out of Millwall's crunch clash with Brighton.

The winger limped out of the Lions' 2-2 draw with Bournemouth a fortnight ago and missed the Middlesbrough game at the weekend as a result.

And manager Ian Holloway has now confirmed that Martin will also sit out Friday's televised match at the Amex Stadium.

The 27-year-old has had two injections in his big toe to help bring down swelling but will need a bit more time on the sidelines to fully recover.

That's shame. If only we had an exciting young homegrown winger who's talented and hungry for football to step in while he's injured.....

@Jim28: Have to agree, Another powder - puff injury ! Our board room boys need to give Ollie some more money to buy "good players" . Or it's Div 1 travel for us Super Supporters coming up next. ( NOLU, WDC ).

        @BUSHWACKER14:
There is no money to give, FFP makes sure of that, even if JB and his directors had £20m each just sitting there ready to spend we wouldn't be allowed to spend it
FFP was to stop the big clubs spending billions, all it does is stops the smaller clubs from buying. PSG, City, Chelski, they'll all pay Million pound fines, "oh you've got too much money and buying everyone, we want some of that money that you spend willy nilly, we'll fine you as you'll just pay it"
Those fines should be given to smaller clubs to help them.

@brooker: disagree..clubs like brentford and other lower gate clubs took the chance & brang in quality young players..Yes they will be hit with a embargo.one thing they wont be doing issending back those players..plus with have 2 windows to get a team before jan 16 so we have to insure we get it right

@Jim28: If you'd have been wise and had a limited squad at the beginning then yes it would work, if you get a decent squad before an embargo, unfortunately we were slow off the mark again and we wont be able to do this whilst we have these players on our books. Missed another boat I believe.

@BUSHWACKER14: It's strange that the KJ remnants of the squad rarely get injured and nor do the youth, it always seems to be these expensive journeymen that spend most of their time in the treatment room. Maybe a lesson for future signings and steer well clear of Pope.

You expecting him to run around kicking a ball with it are you?

Pointless rushing him back as he's one of the few decent wingers we've got and we look a better team with him in the side.

We should be able to get something against a poor brighton side and have Martin available for the rest of the games over the xmas period.

It's disappointing that a few on here are having a go at one of the players who has performed well this season. Keep your amateur medical advice to yourself.

I am pleased with 1 thing after Saturdays game, Ollie isnt talking, hopefully that means they are concentrating on football

This forum is showing its a quiet week, the only posts have been, 5 things, 1 from Dunney about how they mastered a formation written on a napkin in the cafe in about an hour, and the FA cup draw.

I think David Haye is available this kind of story always makes me think of the German born goalkeeper who carried on playing with a broken neck ....its a shame though as Martin has been one of our better players this season . I will welcome the clear out at the end of this season to many lightweight and fragile players on our books but does this mean yet another year of tinkering week in week out to find out our best team with the new players coming in , I hope not .

@mfc2u: Clear them out early and get business done as quick as possible then have a decent pre-season tinkering and messing about with formations.

I just wonder how we will spend the extra tv revenue when we go up via play offs this year?
      only 12 points away COYL!!!

@DELBOY64: F**k knows what's going on with Martinez..? Maybe we just signed him for his encouraging tweets..?!? I 'was' really excited about us signing him - looks a useful player on paper...
I'm not on twitter myself, but obviously shed loads of fans are - and I've gotta say I think it's a bit of a p*ss take him going on there and saying 'come on lads, we can do this' and such like, when the blokes been here for months and hasn't even played 1 minute in a real game for us...?! Feel like saying - Until you actually play a game for us.... stay off the f**king net!

Little bit surprised about this one, yeah the fella has been known to be injury prone, but they were saying he was gona have a late fitness before the Boro game - now their saying he won't even be ready for the brighton game a week later...?? It's more bad news however you cut it.
The team better be in the right frame of mind for this game and f**king get stuck in.. COYL.
