JIMMY Abdou and Richard Chaplow can force their way back into the Millwall reckoning if they perform well in training, manager Ian Holloway has said.
The midfield duo were notable absentees from the squad that travelled to Bournemouth last weekend, with 20-year-old Jack Powell selected ahead of them.
They instead played for the Lions' U21 side against Ipswich on Friday. Abdou and Chaplow are among the 24 Millwall players with contracts that expire in the summer.
Holloway explained: "I told them they wouldn't be in the squad for Saturday so they played for the U21s instead.
"I didn't want to take extra senior pros down to Bournemouth and then not name them as substitutes.
"They both accepted it in the right manner, like I knew they would, and I haven't closed any doors.
"If they’re performing better than anyone else, I'll bring them back into the squad.
"My job is to get us to win, pure and simple, so I'll include whoever's impressing me.
"Last Saturday, I felt Powell deserved to come into the squad – if Chaplow and Abdou want to fight their way back in, they have the power to do that.
"I'm here to make decisions that benefit the club so whoever plays best is going to get in there."
