IAN Holloway believes Fred Onyedinma's loan move to Wycombe is a great opportunity for the young winger to get much-needed experience.

Chairboys boss Gareth Ainsworth, who played under Holloway at QPR, has been entrusted with the 18-year-old for the next five weeks.

But Holloway intends to recall Onyedinma in the New Year.

"I'm only letting Fred go until January," confirmed Holloway. "He's a wonderful talent and needs experience.

"When he comes back, I'll be delighted to have him back in the first team fold."

Holloway believes a short spell away from the club will help Onyedinma's development.

"I spent a bit of time with Fred on the training ground this week," added the Lions boss.

"It's explaining to him what he needs to do. I've got some Raheem Sterling clips that I want to show him.

"Occasionally he switches off and I've got to get him out of those habits. A loan move will definitely help him mature."

I think this is win win for us. It would be a bit unfair to put him in the side with the position we are in at the moment. He goes out on loan, gets experience on how other clubs work and regular football, if he starts scoring we get him back a 'better' player, all the while he is off the wage bill. Would love to think we have a Raheem Sterling type on our hands, he certainly has the pace and not short of talent the rest is up to him and the coaches.

From what I saw of Fred last season he was good enough to play in our first team I would much rather see our young players getting experience playing for us and being given a chance which never seems to happen or if it does its for one or two games . Simple if their good enough PLAY them cant be any worse than some of the crap ive witnessed this season .

Wycombe are now my local team and they are at the sharp end of their division and they try to play it the right way too. Perfect fit for Fred at this time and it can only be mutually beneficial for all three parties.
