A MILLWALL fan has raised more than £60,000 for the British Legion by selling poppies outside Cannon Street train station.
Sean McCarthy smashed the record he set last year by more than £20,000 in just two weeks of fundraising.
The HGV driver has become a familiar face for Lions fans, thousands of whom travelled to his stall to buy one of his poppies that feature a black Millwall lion at their heart.
He estimates he sold over 5,000 of the Millwall poppies.
Sean, who takes two weeks off from work every year to run the stall, thanked the customers who come to him ahead of each Remembrance Sunday.
"This year was a big year – people were definitely putting more money," he said.
"I have still got a few Millwall poppies left but I ordered a lot of poppies – seven or eight thousand. Really there’s only 1,500 left."
